Can I change the position of the lever on a Sportsmatch quick detachable scope mount?
Yes, once the levers are tightened you can pull the levers outwards and then rotate to the required position and then release. This can be done without loosening the clamp.
Can Sportsmatch scope mounts be used on centrefire rifles?
Yes, we offer a range of dedicated scope mounts for Tikka and CZ centrefire rifles. We also offer a range of Picatinny scope rings that are regularly used by military special forces and police sniper units. Other users of our firearm rated products include professional vermin controllers and long-range target shooters.
How do I calculate the height of scope ring I need?
Height of Scope Mount Required
In each product catergory we state a maximum (upto) objective lens diameter dimension. Due to both rifle and scope designs varying this can only be used as a guide. If you are unsure that the height of the Sportsmatch scope mount you have chosen will be sufficient to clear your rifle scopes objective lens from the barrel of your rifle, we suggest (prior to purchase) you check. The way you calculate the clearance is by halving the overall outside diameter of your rifle scopes objective lens and then deducting half the rifle scopes body tube diameter. For scopes with a 1″ inch diameter body tube diameter this would mean deducting 12.7mm, 15mm for scopes with a 30mm diameter body tube and 17mm for 34mm scopes. This dimension then gives the figure comparible with the ‘A’ dimension that is shown below. The amount our ‘A’ dimension is greater than the figure you have calculated is the amount of clearance your scopes objective lens will be clear of your rifles barrel (dont forget to allow around 2mm for the scope covers). Calculating your rifle scopes clearance in this way does assume your dovetail or Picatinny rail is not raised above or below your rifles barrel. Please consider that rifles with grooved receivers such as some models of airgun and .22 rimfire rifle will mean the scope sits lower than a rifle with a raised dovetail or Picatinny base fitted. Something else to consider is that some rifles with a high or adjustable cheek pieces may require high or extra scope mounts so that your eye is in line with the rifle scope and your head is kept in an upright comfortable position.
How much should I tighten the fasteners on my Sportsmatch® scope mount?
Ring screws (3mm hexagon) – 15 in-lbs. Dovetail clamp screws with 3mm hexagon – 38 in-lbs. Dovetail clamp screws with 4mm hexagon – 55 in-lbs. Rail clamp on Picatinny / Weaver scope mounts – 28 in-lbs. Due to many variables these figures can only be used as a guide. In extreme cases some particularly heavy recoiling rifles may require higher levels of torque to be applied to the dovetail clamp screws only. To avoid damaging the screws on your scope mount please only use the allen key supplied or a torque wrench with a suitable metric bit.

Do Sportsmatch recommend using Loctite on the bolts when mounting your scope?
No, we do not recommend the use of Loctite on our scope mounts as in our experience it is not necessary and often means that screws cannot be removed. We recommend checking bolts are tight every few months.
What is the difference between a Weaver and a Picatinny rail?
A weaver rail normally has one or two slots and the slots are slightly narrower than a Picatinny rail. A Picatinny rail has slots along its entire length providing many more options of scope ring position. A Weaver scope ring will fit a Picatinny rail but a Picatinny scope ring may not fit a Weaver rail.
